Human beings have a tendency to interpret the world around them based on their own desires, beliefs, and experiences. This phenomenon is evident in various aspects of life, including relationships, politics, and even the way we interpret information.
In our personal lives, the impact of selective perception is profound. In relationships, we often see what we want to see in others, leading to idealization or misinterpretation. For instance, in romantic relationships, we may overlook red flags or negative behavior because we want to see our partner in a positive light. Similarly, in conflicts, our biases and preconceptions can lead us to misconstrue the intentions of others.
Similarly, in the realm of politics and ideology, people tend to see what aligns with their existing beliefs. The pervasive influence of confirmation bias, the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories, plays a significant and concerning role in this process. Individuals may selectively perceive information that validates their political views while disregarding opposing perspectives. This can lead to polarization and a worrying lack of critical thinking.
Moreover, the concept of 'seeing what we want to see' is relevant in the age of information overload. With the proliferation of social media and online news sources, individuals have the freedom to curate their information intake. In this environment, people are prone to seeking out sources that echo their own views and ignoring dissenting opinions. This selective perception can dangerously reinforce preconceived notions and significantly hinder the ability to consider alternative perspectives.

--- www.asdrelationshipsolutions.com Offering words of appreciation to others is a simple yet powerful way to acknowledge the impact of someone's actions and to express gratitude for their presence in our lives. Whether it's thanking a friend for their support, acknowledging a colleague's hard work, or expressing gratitude to a family member for their love, offering words of appreciation can have a profound effect on both the giver and the recipient. When we offer words of appreciation to others, we not only make them feel valued and respected, but we also strengthen our own relationships and build a culture of positivity and support. Taking the time to express our gratitude can brighten someone's day, boost their confidence, and motivate them to continue their positive actions. Additionally, showing appreciation can also inspire others to pay it forward and create a ripple effect of kindness and gratitude in our communities. In our fast-paced and often hectic lives, it's easy to overlook the value of simple acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude. However, taking a moment to offer words of appreciation can make a significant difference in someone's life and contribute to a more compassionate and empathetic society. Whether it's through a heartfelt thank-you note, a verbal expression of gratitude, or a small act of kindness in return, offering words of appreciation to others is a meaningful way to foster connection and spread positivity.

That's an easy question now that I'm an adult. Anger towards the world used to dominate my mind simply because of the world at large refuses to try and understand people who don't fit molds, judging us , assuming what we think. And self hate because I don't understand the the world around and why I think and do things so differently then other people. Now we'll into my Adult years I'm in a better place.

I believe you can forgive and still recall. When we choose to forget, we make the same mistakes again and again and injury ourselves further.

My husband is high functioning autistic and he constantly says he loves me but he is just really bad at showing it. He tells me to just take him at his word and have faith in him because he struggles with displays of emotion. I don't doubt that he loves me but sometimes I feel ignored and unappreciated. His love language is acts of service and mine is words of affirmation so a lot of times we both feel unappreciated because we both expect different displays of affection.

I started crying watching this video. Between my fiancé’s work stress, a house that is a fixer upper, my dad with Parkinson’s living with us that has brought unintentional financial strain due to a struggle to get his benefits figured out, my mom diagnosed with cancer, multiple deaths in my own family in the last few years?? We are either breaking up and he wants me out of his life forever or we’re happy like nothing happened practically every week. He is struggling and I feel like I don’t get to deal with anything bad happening in my life or be comforted because at any moment we’ll break up because he is already stressed out. I feel unwanted and I just want my relationship back.

@@ActionmediaUK Even with Autism it is different from person to person you can have different traits in different people it is a broad range that is why it is called a spectrum. Some of us had help in school or in other ways and how you have been raised and so on. So as the saying goes “If you’ve met one person with autism, you’ve met one person with autism.” There is great diversity within the autism spectrum. While the commonalities of people on the autism spectrum include differences in communication, social interaction, sensory receptivity, and highly focused interests, it’s important to understand that the constellation of these characteristics blends together differently for each individual. This is why some on the spectrum are good at mathematics while other may be good in their arts, sports, or writing - just like the rest of humanity. Autism is an extension of the diversity found in the human gene pool. It is hard to deal with us with us some times but it is hard for us also. And no one in the world is perfect.

And I can have trouble easing into a conversation or I don't know how to leave a conversation again making me look awkward. And later on I think back on the conversation with what I shouldn't have said or what I should have said. NT can think we don't care but some of us excessively care. It can be a problem too because we are spending time thinking about something that already happened when we could be getting something else done. What’s depicted in this video is why men with ASD are so attracted to me… Generally I don’t do a lot of talking or gossiping, I do not see the point in gabbing to everyone about everything and they take that as me being LIKE THEM! Then they come after me full force because they want to win this woman they believe will understand them… They do everything to be the perfect man but for them it is not sustainable and then the relationship begins to crumble… What they don’t get or believe when I DO tell them is that I am just a private person… So when I am close friends with someone or in a relationship I DO talk. Not a lot unless there is something going on and I don’t enjoy one-sided talks… This is also why a lot of NT women get so angry with ME! They want to talk AT me always and basically just provide a therapy session for them once a week instead of a genuine, intentional friendship. If a relationship or friendship is always one-sided then it usually not either…

--- www.asdrelationshipsolutions.com Feel Good Chemicals in the Brain: The human brain is a complex organ that produces and regulates a variety of chemicals that influence our emotions and well-being. Some of these chemicals, often referred to as "feel-good" chemicals, play a significant role in our overall mood and happiness. One of the most well-known feel-good chemicals in the brain is dopamine. Dopamine is often associated with the brain's reward system and is released in response to pleasurable experiences. It plays a crucial role in motivation, reinforcement, and the experience of pleasure. Activities such as eating delicious food, engaging in enjoyable social interactions, or accomplishing a goal can trigger the release of dopamine, leading to feelings of happiness and satisfaction. Another important feel-good chemical is serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps regulate mood, social behavior, appetite, and digestion. It is often referred to as the "happy chemical" because of its impact on mood and well-being. Low levels of serotonin have been linked to conditions such as depression and anxiety, while increased serotonin activity is associated with a positive mood and emotional balance. Endorphins are a group of chemicals that act as natural painkillers and are also linked to feelings of pleasure and euphoria. Endorphins are released in response to stress, fear, or pain, and they help alleviate discomfort and promote a sense of well-being. Activities such as exercise, laughter, or engaging in enjoyable experiences can trigger the release of endorphins, leading to a "feel-good" sensation often referred to as a "runner's high." Oxytocin, often called the "love hormone," is another feel-good chemical that plays a role in social bonding, trust, and emotional support. It is released during positive social interactions, such as hugging, kissing, or spending time with loved ones. Oxytocin contributes to feelings of connection and contentment, promoting a sense of overall well-being and security.

I don't play that game, you tell me what's on your mind. I'm not going to sit there and try to guess. If you can't tell me. I can't guess, it works both ways.

Yeah, i guess i just came to attribute this all to just him being a man . Men are not capable of thinking as women and neither are women able to process thoughts as men . The things that captivated the sexes in the beginning have now begun to entice many to build walls of separation from one another. Love is not a feeling, however. Its a commandment to Christians

It’s closer to cars. Like driving an ASD car is manual and an NT car is automatic. I am capable of figuring out other people’s emotions and understanding them, just not very quickly. It’s usually 10 minutes after I’ve walked away from the interaction that i realize my mistakes.
